Robert was preceded in death by his brothers: Thomas, Charles and Albert Friday. Bob founded a successful Pittsburgh area masonry construction company, building supply company and a glass block company in the early 1960's. Bob's positive outlook, drive and leadership abilities enabled him to overcome personal and financial obstacles which would have stopped most other people. His most rewarding years were spent working together in the business with his sons, Bob and Mark, as well as many other valued employees. He was very well liked and a natural at making friends in any room he walked into. Bob had true empathy for those people who were down on their luck. Over the years, he helped many people in need of employment or just some assistance to get through a difficult time. He will always be remembered for his smile, laughter and love of his family including his eight grandchildren. XANDER BRIDGET L. (TUKINA) After an extended illness, Bridget L. (Tukina) Xander, age 88, of Mt. Lebanon, formerly of Bell Acres and North Ft. Myers, FL died peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. She was the mother of Richard A. Xander, Jr. (Valerie) of Moon Township, Karen M. Xander of Castle Shannon, and Brian K. Xander (Barbara). She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Richard A. Xander, Sr.; her parents, Michael and Pauline Tukina; and her sister, Mary Byrnes. Born September 9, 1929, near Trencin, Czechoslovakia, she immigrated at age 6 to New York City with her mother and sister and were met by her father who immigrated in 1929. She grew up in Palmerton, PA where she attended Sacred Heart School from 1935-43. She graduated from Stephen S. Palmer High School in 1947. She always wanted to be a nurse and worked as a nurse's aide at Palmerton Hospital before enrolling in the Palmerton Hospital School of Nursing, earning her R.N. in 1950. She married her handsome pilot, Dick Xander in 1952 and moved with him to Kinston, NC where he worked training pilots for the U.S. Air Force while she worked at Lenoir Memorial Hospital as a nursing supervisor. The family moved to Cleveland, Ohio when Dick took a job as a pilot with Allegheny Airlines and Bridget worked as a nurse at Fairview Park Hospital working in maternity surgery. She left work when the family moved to Pittsburgh (Bell Acres) in 1967. In addition to her children, one of her proudest accomplishments was earning a B.A. in Psychology from LaRoche College in 1980. She then returned to work as a Psych Nurse at Dixmont State Hospital. As a snowbird between Bell Acres and North Ft. Myers, she continued to enjoy travel, golf and bowling well into her 80s and was a big baseball fan. She served as Eucharistic minister at St. Therese Catholic Church in North Ft. Myers. NERONE RICHARD ANTHONY Age 72, formerly of Brookline, passed away peacefully after a long battle with liver disease, on December 10, 2017. He spent his final days surrounded by family and friends. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Richard is survived by his wife of 51 years, Katherine Mecca Nerone; and his sons and daughters, Richard Nerone and Trish Nee, Terri and Bill Burkhart, Kathilyn and Greg Shulik and Gina and Deron Gabriel. Richard was affectionately known as Pap by his 13 grandchildren. Referred to as Marty and Company they include Zack, Sarah, Marty, Joey, Max, Christian, Lexy, Richie, Bella, Vincent, Kay, Angelina and Maria. Richard was the beloved brother of Mary and Ron Dicarlo, Randy and Roberta Nerone, Marge Nerone, Rich Smith, Roger and Helena Nerone, Kathy Peters, Phillip Nerone and the late Regan Nerone, Joei Smith and Chrissy Nerone. Richard and Kathy Nerone enjoyed spending time traveling and sitting poolside and occasionally rolling dice in Atlantic City. They cherished special friendships and always were happy to share a great homemade meal with any and all that wanted it or sometimes needed it. Richard was an avid reader, enjoyed talking politics and was always up for some friendly banter. His true passion was his kids. Even during his final moments, he spoke of each of their accomplishments, goals and dreams with a special, passionate and unique love for all of them. Virginia was born on August 21, 1940 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Mary Alice (Henry) Wesoloski, and raised in Hendersonville, PA. Virginia was a mathematics teacher for the Penn-Trafford School District for many years and then a part-time adjunct professor for Seton Hill University after her retirement. She was a member of St. Regis Church in Trafford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene P. Malley, in 1999. Virginia is survived by her children, Patrick J. Malley (Stephanie) of Level Green and Margaret M. Owens (Mark) of Amarillo, TX; her grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley Owens, Bridget, Colleen, Kate, and Grace Malley; her siblings, Alice Turoczy of Painesville, OH, Margaret Wesoloski of Bethel Park, Fr. BRENNAN JANE M. Jane M. Brennan, 82, of White Oak, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017 after a brief stay in the hospital. She was born on February 24, 1935 in McKeesport to the late Paul F. Brennan and Maxine M. Brennan (Griffiths). Jane devoted her life to the field of Nursing for 40 years prior to her retirement. After graduating from McKeesport High School, she earned post-secondary degrees from the Presbyterian School of Nursing, University of Pittsburgh and the University of North Carolina. During her professional career, she served as Executive Director for various home health nursing agencies and held an executive position at the National League of Nursing. Committed to the field of public health, she taught at Duquesne University and the University of Tennessee and she testified before the Congress of the United States, advocating for proper funding for public health. Janie enjoyed reading, travel, and many happy times with her loving family and dear friends. Beloved wife of the late Rudolph "the Duke"; loving mother of David (Emily), Vincenne (Victor) and Thomas (special friend, Sandy); grandmother of Jeff (Jessica), Shelley (Jason), Jenny (Tim), Ivonne (Robert) and Christina (Peter); great-grandmother of seven; sister of the late Rose, Joseph and Samuel; and daughter of the late Dominic and Josephine (Ragona) Fasone; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jean graduated from Aspinwall High School, Class of 1938. She went on to earn a degree from the Pinkerton Business School and then started a secretarial career in optometry. She married her childhood sweetheart, Rudolph, and enjoyed 54 happy years together. They owned and operated several successful businesses, including Melody Bowling Lanes. There she became lovingly known as the "Silver Fox." After retirement, she started a small travel business which she operated for over 15 years. Jean was well-known in her community and held leadership positions in several senior organizations. Jean adored her family and loved her many friends; her home was always open to welcome visitors with lovingly prepared Italian specialties. She was active in St. Pio Parish/ St. Edward Church and proudly participated in the Girl Scouts for over 30 years. Never the one to slow down, even in her '90s, Jean learned to use the computer and had a Facebook page to connect with family and friends around the globe. With some prompting, Jean began to produce beautiful, detailed works of art and filled several sketch books. Throughout her life, Jean loved opera, the classics, Italian music, traveling, and playing cards. Jean always will be remembered for her positive attitude, kind words of encouragement, and her ever-present smile. BRZEZINSKI SISTER MARY CANTALICE On Sunday, December 10, 2017, a member of the Felician Sisters of Moon Township, PA for 74 years, at the age of 92. Sister was a native of Canonsburg, PA, and was the daughter of the late Stella (Sekula) and Paul Brzezinski. Sister Cantalice was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Anthony, Ladislaus and Joseph; her sisters, Sophia, Cecilia and Lucy. Sister Mary Cantalice is survived by nieces and nephews and some 1300 Felician Sisters worldwide. Friends will be received at the Felician Sisters Central Convent, 1500 Woodcrest Avenue, Coraopolis, PA, on Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 6-8 p.m., with a Sharing of Memories at 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the Convent Chapel.
